Harryana Walker-Gould
Harryana Walker works as a freelance journalist and multimedia producer who is driven by all things media. Born and raised in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn New York, Walker is inspired by diversity, culture, and urban living. Her passion for journalism led her to develop an interest in urban life and culture. Hence the Urban Minority Report, a compilation of text, photos and video, all curated by Walker. The Urban Minority Report highlights social injustice, community events, female entrepreneurs and models of female empowerment.
Aside from shooting promotional videos and editing behind the scenes footage, Walker is working on her first narrative documentary titled “Women of Distinction” which will coexist with it’s own tab on Urban Minority Report. The documentary will feature testimonials from Black and Latina women who are resilient, successful and goal oriented. She is also working towards hosting and producing an online segment focused on the culture, and issues of residents throughout the five boroughs. Harryana is a graduate of SUNY College at Old Westbury where she received her Bachelor of Arts in media and communications. She is a two time MAC Award winner for best documentary and best blog. The winner of each category was judged by senior staff at NBC, The New York Times and other professional media personnel.
